Testing Mute Switch with Condenser Microphones

Some viewers have said that the mute switch have a buzz, fuzz or click when using a condenser switch. It may very well be that the 1000uF capacitor is polarized and it is not suppose to be. Also, check that your 48V phantom power does not drop below 44 volts, because that causes the microphone to have issues beyond the mute switch. So, I tested 3 common condenser mics and posted this video to demonstrate that the mute switch does work. Now then, the ABY video will not work with a condenser mic UNLESS you supply phantom power to the INPUT side of the mute switch. This is because the output side disconnects pin 2 from the output jack. If you need a phantom power supply get a Sterling PHP1 for , hook the mic to the PHP1 and then connect to the input side of the mute or ABY mute switch. You'll need one for each mic.
